Rakhi Sawant belongs to a typical Maharashtrian family with a middle class up bringing. Rakhi’s father is an ACP of Mumbai Police and her mother is Usha Sawant (home maker). Her brother Rakesh is an upcoming director. Her sister Jaya is a housewife. Rakhi has always been a very accomplished dancer and after college used to perform in a lot of shows. In 1999, she made her film debut in the film Dil Ka Sauda. Rakhi rose to popularity by working in a lot of music videos and as working as an item girl. In 2003, her biggest success came with the item song "mohabbat hai mirchi" for the movie Chura Liya Hai Tumne.
Rakhi then entered a reality show which was televised on Sony, Big Boss. Rakhi did not win the series but she sure as hell made a mark in the minds of the people who were watching the show. And as it turned out, the whole nation was watching. She has been a controversies child, especially because of her loud behavior. But she has garnered a fan following because of her seductive approach and her sharp tongue. Today Rakhi is doing a lot of item numbers, movies as a lead actor and has a talk show to her credit. She is the life member of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy Of Film & Television. Rakhi has always kept the world guessing with her attitude and her antics.
